Betty Jane was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth L. & Roscoe L. Punnett, her husband, Charles L. Schmidt, and daughter, Barbara Schmidt Clark. She is survived by her son, Charles Punnett Schmidt of Hamlin, NY, sister, Marjorie A. Leddon of Zelienople, PA, grandsons, Matthew C. (Hallie) Clark of Oakland City, IN, and Gary (Sandy) Clark of Bedford, IN, and nieces Carolyn (Fred) Gallo, Jane (Robert) Morrow, Cheryl Barton, nephews James (Diane) Leddon, and Jeffrey (Kathy) Barton, and cousins Robert Young and Tyler (Jane) Upham.
Betty Jane was born in State College, PA on July 9, 1920. She was a graduate of Donora (PA) high school and Duffs Iron City Business College of Pittsburgh. She received the B.A. degree in English from Florida Atlantic University in 1988. She was a professional secretary for the Eastman Kodak Company and later served as executive secretary to the president of Palm Beach Junior College. Following retirement, she resided in Bloomington, IN and then Rochester, NY. She will be remembered for her gentle grace, warmth, loyalty, generosity and devotion to her family, many lifelong friends and pets. She treasured her summers on Lake Ontario and was an avid gardener, reader, and movie fan.

She is survived by her children: Tracie Beardsley, Kevin Bell, Sheila Bell; brothers: Gary, Michael, Daniel, Timothy & Patrick Ingram, Kenneth (Kory) Roberts; sister: Janet Ingram Turpyn; granddaughter: Brittany Bell.
