     Polly graduated from Hilton Central School in 1976 and Houghton College in 1980, where she was on multi-varsity sport teams and both schools. Following graduation, she taught physical education in a Mission School in Honduras and at SS Peter and Paul Catholic School in Hamburg, NY. Later she established and was an Administrator for the Pre-Kindergarten. She helped her husband establish two inner-city churches in Buffalo's West Side. At the time of her death, she was the Chaplin for the Jericho Road Mission. A Memorial Service will be held SAT August 27, at 1 o'clock PM at the Full Gospel Tabernacle, 3210 South - Western Blvd., Orchard Park, NY.

Philip, Richard "Dick"
Hamlin: Richard Philip, 81, of Hamlin, NY (formerly of Northborough, MA) passed away Wednesday after a lengthy illness. Dick was born in Worcester, MA, on September 7, 1927, to parents Madeline (Zarzartian) and George Philips. Dick and his late wife Shirley (Monahan) subsequently moved to Northborough, MA, where he resided for almost 40 years. Eight years after Shirley's passing in 1997, Dick decided to relocate to Hamlin, NY to live with his son and daughter-in-law where he resided at the time of his death. In addition to the death of his parents and that of his wife Shirley in 1997, Dick lost his beloved daughter, Karen Bills in July of 2008.
     Dick is survived by three sons, Richard of Warwick, RI, Mark and his wife Lora of Hamlin, NY, with whom he made his home, Joseph and his partner Matt Mattus of Worcester, MA. He also leaves two sisters, Elizabeth Vareschi of Hampton, NH and Elinor Leland and her husband William of Uxbridge, MA. Dick was a very proud grandfather of four, Michael Philip of Worcester, MA, Curtis Philip of Rochester, NY, Heather Philip of Worcester, MA and Amanda Birardi of Liverpool, NY; and great-grandfather of six. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends including, Jim & Sam Roberts of Hamlin, NY, Pam & Chris Davis of Leicester, MA, the Rackus and Dallis families, Effie Amidon, and Sue & Bob Kasaras, all of Northborough, MA. He will be sorely missed by all, including his loving canine companions, Moose and Spinner. Dick worked for Neles-Jamesbury (Metso Automation) for several years retiring in 1996. As a member of "The Greatest Generation", Dick proudly served his country during WWII with the U.S. Navy as an Electricians Mate Fireman, serving on several ships. His love for life, family, friends and animals endeared him to all who had the pleasure to make his acquaintance. He will be deeply missed by his family, who will endure by recollection of the many memories a lifetime as wonderful as his has produced.
     Honoring his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home in Hilton, NY, in conjunction with Callahan & Fay Brothers in Worcester, MA will be assisting the family.      A lover of books, crossword puzzles and education, Dorothy had an impact on her family and community at Large. She was a trustee of The Parma Public Library and a member of Hilton Book Club for many years. She was a longtime employee of Hilton Central School where she worked in the High School Guidance Dept for many years. She always encouraged young people to continue their education or pursuit of technical skills. Born Dorothea Beatrice Soule on November 26, 1911, in Bangor, Maine to James W. and Maude (Riek) Soule, she was, after the death of her mother in 1914, adopted by George F. and Lottie V. (Stokes) Gath of Rochester. On May 19, 1936, she married the late Harold Hargreave also of Rochester where the couple resided until 1963 when they moved to the village of Hilton. Preceding her in death were her husband Harold, and two sisters, Mildred and Evelyn May. She is survived by a brother, Norman Soulé of Ocala, Florida, her son David of Kalamazoo, Michigan, two grandsons, Scott David of Telluride, Colorado, and Craig Mercer of Sugar Grove, Ohio, and a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Kay Mercer Hargreave. Interment in Grove Place Cemetery.
