Dora Anne (Nancy DeVries)
June 30, 2004, at age 67. Predeceased by brother, Bill deVries. Survived
by her husband, Jack Wood; children, John (Julie Slavet) Walber of Phildelphia,
PA, Jeff (Laura Davis) Walber of Buffalo, NY, Wende (Jay) Betts of Naples,
NY; 9 grandchildren, Daniel, Elizabeth, Taylor, Tatum, Hannah, Jordan, Micah,
Justin & Jennifer; 1 brother, Jack DeVries; many nieces and nephews. Also
survived by 1 stepson, Timothy Wood & 1 stepgrandson, Timothy Wood, Jr.;
and many, many dear friends.
Nancy, born of March 19, 1937, grew up in Greece, NY, graduating from John
Marshall High School. She attended business school in Rochester and worked
in the banking business until she started a family. Always a loyal Rochesterian,
she enjoyed the varied cultural advantages available, living in the Corn
Hill area for years.
After a career in customer service at Siemens/Tel Plus, St. Mary's Hospital
and Time Warner, she retired and moved with her husband to Cape Vincent,
NY. Her passion for the beauty of the lake and area islands was shared with
all. Nancy lived her life centered around her loved ones. Known as "Mimi",
she was a beloved grandmother. She will be deeply missed and always remembered
for her love of cooking, her quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service and celebration
of her life at 1:30 p.m., July 18, 2004, at the Canal Lamp Inn in Pittsford,
New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to support the ICU Unit at Thompson
Hospital by making donations to the F.F. Thompson Foundation, 350 Parrish

knowledge and was valedictorian of Roundout Valley High School. He graduated

he had a successful 30-year career at Kodak.

Parma-Hilton Historical Society and was its first president. She authored
two books on Hilton history, a genealogical account of the Cox Family, &
her own autobiography.
