George was a graduate of Buffalo State Teacher's College. He served in the US Navy from 1943-46. Upon discharge he was an instructor with the Veteran's Administration. George was owner and publisher of the Grand Island Dispatch. Later in life, George moved to Rochester, where he joined the Rochester City School District as an Industrial Arts Teacher and later an administrator with the Education Facilities Dept., retiring in 1980.
