Thomas E. Burger
Owner and President
Mr.
Burger was born in nearby Brockport, New York June 13, 1946. His ancestors
settled in western Monroe County (Town of Greece) when the area was first
settled as early as 1791 and the early 1800's(Town of Parma). He attended
Hilton, New York schools and graduated from Hilton Central High school in
June 1964. He had early aspirations of becoming a funeral director in high
school especially after witnessing the terminal illness and funeral procedures
following the deaths of his grandfathers. He was never encouraged by those
already practicing in the field something that he has made sure he would
never do after establishing his own business. The doors and office of the
Burger Funeral Home have always been open to anyone expressing an interest
in funeral service.
He attended and graduated from Cornell University June 1968 with a B.S.
Degree. He taught school in Buffalo, New York from 1968 until June 1973
obtaining a M.S. in Education from SUNY @ Buffalo. He still had strong desires
to become a funeral director and enrolled in Simmons School of Mortuary
Science in Syracuse, New York graduating in September 1974. While attending
Simmons School he was very fortunate to be able to live and work part-time
at the John G. Butler Funeral Home in Syracuse, New York where he served
part of his New York State required residency/apprenticeship. In September
of 1976 Mr. Burger officially opened the Thomas E. Burger Funeral
Home Inc. in Hilton New York.

the Air Force in 1981 and spent the next 8 years traveling the Far East,
while obtaining a degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the

Service to follow his passion of always wanting to serve as a funeral director.
After his graduation in 1998 he served his internship and worked part time
with the Willard H. Scott Funeral Home in Webster, NY. In 1999 he moved

In November, 2006, Mike accepted a position with the Thomas E. Burger Funeral
Home. After spending many years in the Far East with the Air Force and 7
